Thule 929 - More BANG for your buck.
Thule 929 Euroclassic G6 Towball Bike Rack Review
The Thule EuroClassic G6
929 is a 3-bike carrier which was released for 2011, and it supersedes
the Thule G5 EuroClassic in their range of bike carriers, and retails at
£450.00; this definitely places it in the higher end of Thule’s range.
With that said, it is easy to see why the 929 commands a considerable
price tag; it is a sturdy and exceptionally well designed carrier, which
can even hold a fourth bike if an extra adapter is purchased, which
retails at £100.00.
Upon taking it out of the box we were
impressed by its compact silhouette, which unfolded into a sturdy and
robust frame. Weighing it at 19 kilograms, the 929 is no featherweight,
but this actually works in its favour, as the whole impression garnered
is one of strength. Furthermore, we were impressed by the integrated LED
lights on the back, which circumvents the problem of the rear lights
being obscured by the carrier.
We had no problems attaching the
carrier to the towball of our test vehicle, which is a 2009 Ford Focus.
After that, we set about loading the bikes onto the carrier – Thule
officially quote the maximum load capacity of the 929 at 60 kilos.
Needless to say, it bore the weight of 3 bikes easily, and when in
transit, the bikes did not move, which further indicated the strong hold
exerted upon them by the carrier. All in all, if you’re looking for a
dependable, stylish and well-made 3-bike carrier, this has your name
written on it.
